The Inga are a group of indigenous peoples living in Aponte, Nariño, who trace their lineage from the ancient Incas. In the past 20-30 years, their homeland has been challenged with political unrest under the influence of the lucrative and dangerous drug trade. Fortunately, the growth of the coffee industry has given the Inga a safe and sustainable economic opportunity outside of the forced production of growing and distributing opiates. Our friends and partners at Ally Coffee work directly with this community of farmers to develop overall cup quality and pay quality premiums to the producers who go above and beyond to grow great coffees.
This coffee is 100% Caturra variety that undergoes a “cherry” fully washed process in which the coffee is picked and then rested inside the fruit of the coffee cherry for 1-2 day before pulping. In the cup, we taste notes of chocolate, sweet cherry, and note a very balanced acidity and body.
