Peru is a country that is not well-known for its microlot coffees. Due to a confluence of events, many small farmers are isolated from developing quality coffee programs due to no fault of their own. There has been a lack of infrastructure and support, leading farmers to sell their lots to more conventional buyers. That said, there’s the seed for something amazing to come forth from Peru. We were excited to find this microlot from Finca La Palma though our friends at Café Imports. La Palma is a small 5-hectare farm owned by Alejandro Nunes Quispe. He’s a member of the Lima Co-op, a farm group who focuses on organic coffee, and supporting and helping develop quality microlot coffees. This one stood out to us. It’s a mix of Caturra and Bourbon varieties that were fermented for 20 hours in open air tanks, washed three times, and slowly dried in parabolic driers for 15-20 days. When we taste this coffee, we get a super clear and delicate cup. We notice a medium sweet body with flavor notes that remind us of ripe sweet cherries, floral apples, and a sweet caramel finish.
*We roast all of our coffee to order. If we receive your online order on Monday or Tuesday before Midnight, we’ll ship it out by Thursday. If you place your order after, (Wed-Sun), we’ll roast and ship it out to you the beginning of the following week.
