We love coffees that taste amazing. We also love coffees that do remarkable things for the people who grow them. Finding coffees that have both in common is a roaster’s dream. This microlot from the Kanda Estate, owned by the Ndatakiura family, in Kirinyaga, Kenya is a prime example of qualities of both flavor and duality.
The small estate is operated on 5 hectares of land in Kirinyaga county near Mount Kenya. Because of the red, volcanic ash it is ideal for coffee production. The cherries are handpicked and processed the same day through a wet mill. After pulping, the coffee is, then, fermented overnight, washed, soaked, and left to dry on drying tables.
As for the quality of the coffee, this one will speak for itself. In your cup, you will experience what makes a bright and vibrant Kenya profile: lots of tangy fruit acidity, with bright tartness and warm molasses and browned sugar notes.
*We roast all of our coffee to order. If we receive your online order on Monday or Tuesday before Midnight, we’ll ship it out by Thursday. If you place your order after, (Wed-Sun), we’ll roast and ship it out to you the beginning of the following week.
